from LCA President Scott Goins (McNeese):

Dear Members of the LCA,

On behalf of Nathalie Roy, the incoming President, and myself, the outgoing President, I wish to welcome you warmly to our next meeting to be held in Lake Charles on September 17. (We had considered a spring meeting as a follow-up for the one last fall, but it seemed best for several reasons to wait until the fall when we could all plan better.) Topics for the meeting currently include presentations on textbooks, teacher certification, and starting new programs (esp. for middle schoolers, homeschoolers, etc,). We would be happy to have volunteers for these topics as well as suggestions for other topics. Also this year will be the 30th anniversary of the LCA. Presentations on the history of the organization will be most welcome.

We would also like to encourage everyone to be sure to renew membership for this year (form attached), if you haven’t done so. For those who are able to donate to the scholarship fund, a contribution would be most appreciated. So far this year we have only had a couple of hundred dollars in renewals and donations, so we certainly could use more funds.

Thank you all for your support of our organization. Do let me or Nathalie know if you have ideas for the meeting or for the association itself.

Valete,

Scott Goins
